The GX 550 replaces the GX 460 with a twin-turbo 3.4L V6 (349 hp), full-time 4WD, and the Overtrail trim that targets the overlanding market directly. Built on the same platform as the Land Cruiser 250 and 4Runner, it shares DNA with Toyota's most capable off-roaders while adding Lexus luxury and refinement.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do GX 460 parts fit the GX 550?

No. The GX 550 is built on an entirely new platform. Bumpers, suspension, racks, and sliders from the GX 460 or GX 470 will not fit.

What mods should I do first on a GX 550?

All-terrain tires (the biggest improvement for the least money), recovery gear, a portable fridge, and lighting. Vehicle-specific mods are limited right now — wait for the aftermarket to develop unless you want the Westcott preload collar lift.

Overtrail vs Premium for overlanding?

Overtrail if you plan to go off-road. It adds a stabilizer bar disconnect, off-road tires, unique suspension tuning, and skid plates. The Premium trims have air suspension which adds complexity for aftermarket lifts.
