Payload calculator
Open the driver's door and find the yellow and white label on the door frame. Your payload is the number after "should never exceed".
The combined weight of occupants and cargo should never exceed 630 kg or 1,390 lbs.
Add up everyone who rides in the vehicle, including the driver.
What is payload?
The most weight your vehicle's maker allows you to add to it. The label on the driver's door frame gives the number for your exact vehicle.
What counts toward it?
Everyone in the vehicle, everything you carry, and everything bolted on after it left the factory, like bumpers, racks and a rooftop tent. If you tow, the weight the trailer puts on the hitch counts too.
What if I'm over the limit?
Owner's manuals warn that an overloaded vehicle can damage its tires and is harder to steer and stop. To get back under the limit, take weight out: leave some gear at home, swap in lighter gear, or carry fewer people.
